I’m posting instead of creating drafts. I’m throwing it at the wall and seeing what sticks. In the end there is what you create. And either I’m going to contribute greatly to the infinite pile of crap that already exists or maybe raise the bar slightly. Maybe a little of both, but I’ll leave that to others to sort out.
I’ve been letting too many other things come between what I’d like to be doing and what I’m actually doing. Summer has gotten away from me. I’m feeling good about some work I’ve done but far from satisfied with the total results and effort.
Finding and making the time to do the work of several people is difficult at best, even in retirement. I have grand plans but not the one to execute it all. So, more planning and adjustments are needed.
I’m taking a tip from a recent read; I’m making time to touch each of my interests every day. I have spent time being blocked instead of moving onto something different. Sometimes I’ll get stuck while writing and I should get up and walk in the workroom and pick up the Dremel tool and start working with some wood.
When I’m carving, I’m always moving the object and looking at it from different angles. Unlike my shooting (photography) where I’m the one doing 360s and looking up and down for angles, light, objects, people, nature. Versus my editing and printing my photography, painting and drawing which is 2 dimensional.
Then there is the painting which I usually start with a piece of reality and then interpret it and create.
So off I go to put in some work today. Yep, it’s Labor Day but the work I do is a labor of love.
