A Desk

The daily prompt asks – What’s one thing you own that holds deep sentimental value?

I have several things, but I guess the oldest and deepest if my father’s desk which I work on every day. Well except for the last few days because we were away in Charleston South Carolina. That is why this post is so late in the day. We just got home around 7:30pm.

But back to the desk. Yes, it’s a bit smaller than I’d like and need but that helps keep it pretty clean also. It’s old so it’s a heavy one for a small desk. I believe it’s all white oak.

It feels like I belong at it. There is an ease when I work at it. Even though it’s starting to show a little age and could use a sanding and refinishing coat.

The other item I have that holds deep sentimental value that I almost went with a tea cart my mom loved. I’ve sanded that down and I’m fixing a broken handle. Once that’s complete, I’ll stain it.

I’ve told my children about these items, and I hope that they make them part of their future when I’m gone.
