What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done? – Wow that is some ask from the daily prompt.

At first, I thought to myself I’m not that spontaneous. But as I kept coming up with answers that I couldn’t share here repeatedly, I began to laugh. So, I’ll revise that statement. I’m not spontaneous in the ways I used to be.

And that reminded me of another common statement my friends and I make often. When we see and discuss a viral video, we always say, “I’m glad there weren’t cameras in our early days.”

There were even categories of spontaneous events. Road Trips, Pick-up games, Parties, Gags and Pranks, Drag Races, Grilling, Fishing, Food trips and Concerts. Also creating various things like our own sayings that we still use 5 decades later.

The days I quit drinking and smoking were spontaneous ones.

Okay I’ll use this old one. There was a guy in our neighborhood who would yell at us for playing at one of our friend’s homes across the street. We were young teenagers just playing games outside, we used to play ping pong at his house and then back outside for some yard games.

One night while we were watching the Olympics and going outside and creating our own with excitement he called the police on us. These aren’t close homes. Half acre lots. The guys father quickly dismissed the police and they left. Later that night when I left, I remember looking over at his freshly sodded yard.

Well, I decided to give him a project the next day. I rolled up a good number of pieces and piled them neatly into a big square of sod sitting at the edge of his yard by the road. I heard my friend’s father almost died of laughter the next morning when he went out. The same officer questioned us the next day and I could see him trying not to laugh as he said I don’t want to be back out here for any calls.
