After a nice day in Easton Maryland on Tuesday, we headed closer to the water and rolled into St Michael’s, less than 10 miles from Easton.
A steady and heavy rain was present the way there and into town. We parked and thought about walking with the umbrellas but those are some small streets and things were ponding and getting soaked from traffic was too great a risk.

So we went back uptown to the Gourmet by the Bay. While small, it’s full of good people and food. A deli, butcher, cheese, liquor, fine wines, spices, salads, and many other wonderful treats. I had one of the cheese biscuits we got from there this morning.
We got a panini, water, and coke, drove back to the midtown parking, and ate. Our timing was good because it was down to a drizzle for about an hour or two which we used to walk around town and go into a few shops.
Walking in the rain with umbrellas isn’t bad but we tired of it and decided to do some exploring. We drove all over town, back streets galore, and saw an interesting slice of life. St Michael’s is a place I could consider living in.
Some wonderful homes, all sizes and shapes. But most were small and older and remarkably well kept or restored. We had gotten a recommendation from a shopkeeper for a place called Chesapeake Landing. So being we were headed down to Tilghman Island we thought we’d give it a shout. Especially when it came to the endorsement “it’s the place locals eat.”
And it was good and we will return. I love finding new places. I was sold on the place from the appetizer on. I’ll head down this way when the weather warms up and it’s a sunny day again.
