Yep, all signs point to a weekend snowed in at the homestead. Time to drive my better half crazy and make her once again ask the question “did I really say I Do?” Well actually its good to know that I not only have the ability to drive myself nuts, I can use that super power on others.
In reading a post today from Photofocus titled “Do you have the Impostor Syndrome?” by Chamira Young and it rang a bell with me in terms of my effort in Blogging. I’ve always lacked from self-confidence. And I’ve let that stop me cold in my tracks for many years but no longer. Yeah I constantly have doubts about what to post or what to shoot. But I’m overcoming them and being satisfied with my effort and the knowledge that there will always be someone better at it than I. And maybe most will be better than I am, but in the world of photography that can all change in a single image or in writing with one good story.
I used to think I couldn’t post things till I had some decent hardware to shoot with. Got over that one years ago. I used to think what I had to write wasn’t worth a hill of beans and would trash numerous hours of work. Got over that one in the last 2 years. I used to think I couldn’t enter contest with other professionals. Got over that one about a year ago. And right now I have confidence. Now maybe a few hours ago I was also filled with terms I saw Chamira use (self-doubt, measure up, fear).
I have doubts every day. Are my ideas creative enough or childish? Are my images able to create emotion or just run of the mill junk? Are my words thoughtful and smart enough? Will my sculptures or etchings be something to be cherished. Who knows about any of it. I do know I enjoy it. I do know some people like and follow this along. I do know that if I keep applying myself I’ll get better.

- I wonder how long it’s going to take 2 feet of snow to melt as I look at my snow shovels?
- Do you find watching people sleep interesting?
- Well, I’ve been burning the candle at both ends so time to sign off.
