Doing laps

Doing laps in an electronic world might be good for the mind and fingers but, is there any time left for the real track? In my case not so much. It all started when they took the dial off the TV set and put it in the remote. Now our butts don’t have to leave the chair, couch or bed. I think the same person that made the tv remote also invented the laptop. Just kidding but it was the same type of invention.

I love tech stuff, but it has gotten me away from getting out more. Some recent travel was fun and I’m looking to do more. But it’s getting out each day and getting the body in motion that is important.

So its off to the treadmill early this morning for a few laps and a few outside walks today and Sunday weather permitting Sunday. The cell phone is staying home. I may take a camera, I certainly need some practice there.

I got a workout in the yard yesterday, and I quickly discovered how much more work I have to do on this shoulder to get my strength back. I’m not going to push this and hurt it, but I’ve got to continue to work it out more often and actively.

Life, 6 months at a time.

Do you ever wonder how empty some people must be when they have been given so much.

Happiness is anticipating the next day.

It feels good to do something for someone else.

I had started to write one of my angry rants about people driving when I came across a friends post with a message on one of her beautiful cards read “kindness can change the world”. It made me pause, it made me think that is the way I would like to be, but I let my anger get the best of me at times. When I feel things aren’t right, I usually speak up. And it always feels better to get things out and not carry it around because more is coming.

But kindness seems to have so much more impact and feels better also. So I’m going to try to get a better balance in expressing myself.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.

  1. It’s the whole glass half empty/glass half full perception, Mike. I know I personally get stuck on the “glass half empty” side, and it is hard to break the cycle. I saw a beautiful rainbow early yesterday morning (right here in HoCo!), that was enough to pop me into a “glass half full” mood! Watching CNN last night, my mood was headed back to “glass half empty”, so I turned the TV off and read an old book. May your weekend be calm and peaceful.
