One of the best days of summer

I’m really getting into grilling this summer. And yeah I splurged yesterday, but it was family. Hell, I’d eat peanut butter sandwiches all week if I had to, for a good feast for the family. Thankfully though I’m still employed and able to eat well for now. Anyway I went shopping by myself. Always dangerous for the family bank account. Well, I got some T bone steaks, a salmon that was over 2 lbs and some scallops. Grilled them all. Some old bay and lemon for the scallops. A nice marinade of brown sugar, soy sauce, oil, S&P made the salmon wonderful. (the seafood got the best cheers from the ladies) The steaks were very tender and tasty. Also marinated them for a little while.

I’m blessed my children are so close. I’m blessed they are in love, employed, healthy and good people. And by children I include my son and daughter in-law also. The way everyone gets along so well. I can’t wait to see these families grow, because already they have given me so much pride that the future is very bright.

Those kabob holders are great for scallops. Still perfecting my technique on these but that is half the fun in grilling. Doing something new or seasoning different or cooking by a different technique.

72 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Joey Chestnut has found his calling and a new record. I wonder if they have a time record for how much time he spends in the bathroom today. To me on the surface this looks like something that can’t be good for your body. And it doesn’t look like something you could do once and be good at it so this implies he has to build up to it? To each his own.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th of July. Good to see the country pull together for a few days instead of further apart. Shows we have more in common than different. It would be nice if we learn how to talk to each other again. I’m guilty of starting off wrong most of the time now because the guy rubs me the wrong way in so many ways. So I’m going to try to be more objective and solution orientated. Well I’ll try. You know me, I’m human and far from perfect.

I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
