Been working outside a bit today and its smoking hot. I’m trying to be smart about it and pacing myself. Lots of breaks and rehydrating. I know I might have mentioned this before, but its a treat to be able to do physical work again. I had a great example that lived next door. Lou was a builder who did manual work into his late 80’s. I’m just glad to be healthy today myself. And sweat in the eyes used to elicit a curse, but now its a smile.
So it’s a Friday and a wonderful one at that. A few minutes to write, edit some photos, work on the new photo site and still get the other chores going and accomplished. As I sat here and wondered what I would do and accomplish if I had another 50 hours a week to write and do some photography and artwork? Excitement and wonders of what could be came over me, then the rush of reality. If I’m honest with myself I have to find a way to be more productive. I have to be a better finisher. I have to work harder at these crafts. And I should do that now which should set me up in 5-10 years when I retire to be in a good pattern to just continue and have more to show for it.
Well, then again, one has to live. So have yourself a beer. Pour your partner a glass of wine. Maybe enjoy the sunset. I’ve got to go put the mower away, bring in the tools and close the shed. My reward, a shower. No problem at all. Any day with peace and happiness is a good day. Who knows, maybe I’ll get out and try a few night shots this evening if it stays dry.
I hit the trifecta today. I made my wife, daughter and daughter in-law happy. The annual spa/lunch gift certificate. Men, treat your better half or significant other. Turf Valley has been good I hear.
I believe we are soon going to test that old adage that good triumphs over evil.
The good thing about yard work is that you can see progress from your efforts.
