Elated and Disappointed

On my trip to the ocean this year two things hit me. First it was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable times in my life because I got to spend quality time with my family in a relaxed environment. Well with one important exception, my son in-law and we missed him very much, but I thank him for sharing his wife/my daughter with us for the week.

It’s easy to go on and on about the wonderful times and maybe I’ll do that in the coming days to keep my vacation spirit going but I’m going to change tracks to a few disappointing items.

The trash. We are PIGS. We are destroying nature and if we want it around for our children the way we saw it when we were young, we had better get started on changing our behavior. The beaches are littered with garbage because people can’t pick up after themselves. My morning walks on the beach were filled with taking pictures and walks on the sand and shore, pleasant hello’s and good mornings. My walk back was garbage collector. After the first day or two of just walking by big plastic bags or bottles and cans, it became impossible to just not pick things up and take them to the trash on the way up the beach. And this is early morning walks before almost all people were out and the beach. After the huge Case tractors pulling 14′ rakes and huge “sanitizers” which are big beach devices that take trash from the beaches. They do a great job. They cover miles of beach every day. But we overwhelm them.

I guess were not good with instructions.

I read where there are 700 trash cans along the beach up against the dunes. They are a bright blue and impossible to miss. Yet apparently we have a great number of use who are puzzled by the relationship of garbage and the cans provided.

But as always the real disappointment is in people. Common courtesy is eroding. Bad drivers are increasing. People with the attitude of always “Me” first and only. Lets get out act together. Lets realize we are dependent on each other. Lets all help instead of just a few. Everyone can do something. Doing something might inspire others. And so on.

Random Thoughts of the Day

I’m really getting pissed at myself for not doing any shooting the last few days. I’m going to work hard on changing that the next few.

Do you hate going through the wording on insurance policies and trying to figure out what they are saying?

2 new neighbors in the same year after decades of the same is a big change. Lets hope it doesn’t ruin the peace I’ve had

Congrats to my nephew on becoming a Montgomery County Police officer.

I’m trying to think positive but I watch news so that is squashed most days.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
