3 living objects

The Daily Writing prompt asks What are three objects you couldn’t live without?

Beyond the things in nature that sustain us, I went with a few things in my life.

Let’s see, I’ve lived without technology in my life so I know computers and smartphones, I’d rule out. Yes, I was around when those things weren’t for the most part as you know it today. And I do love all this stuff now but won’t include it.

So what 3 objects have been with me all my life that I can’t live without? From a very young age I can remember being interested in the cameras around the house. The slide projector of my Dad’s service days clicking along on the screen. I love photography and I’ve continued that love all my life so the first object is a camera.

Some of the cameras of family and mine through time. Not my current tools but I find it hard to get rid of these relicks. Photo by Mike Hartley

The second one would probably be a car. I almost said motorcycle but I’ve learned to live without one even though that has been difficult. But a car has been part of me from the day I started remembering things. I love to drive and always have and will, especially my Miata. And it looks like a top-down day today.

This last one is hard to confine to one object so I’ll put them in a box together. All the little family things that have no value to anyone other than me. Things that I have tucked away from each family member, my better half, my two children, and now my grandchildren and of course my parents and sister.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
