Changes

What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world? – Now there is an interesting question from the Daily writing prompt.

I started blogging to share photos I’ve taken and a few thoughts. As time progressed I started writing more and enjoying it. I hadn’t even considered the big or small changes it might make in the world.

I hope my images bring enjoyment and if so, that is a success. If my words bring a smile, laugh, or thought, I’m all the more happy in my life. If it reminded someone to be appreciative of all they have that’s great. If my family enjoys it or learns more about me, that’s a win. If someone was inspired by it that’s a surprise and a nice one at that.

Maybe I’ll drum up the courage to share more opinions and insights in the future and maybe some of them might influence or spur another positive idea, thought, or action.

I’d like to leave this world thinking I’ve made it a better place for my children and grandchildren. In the small picture of our little piece of the world, I believe I’ve succeeded. On the big picture world front, I believe my generation has failed but we still have time to pull victory out of the ashes. And I will try to do my part.

I guess I should think outside the box of my life more. Why can’t a blog shape the world? Or maybe just fix a ton of small stuff so people can focus their energies on the big problems together.

Sometimes I have to guard against age and laziness and remember something important. If I change or inspire or encourage even one person and that person goes out and makes a difference in a few other’s lives and goes out and changes even more people, maybe I have started the change needed to make the world a better place.

It’s something we used to do naturally at work. Mentor those less experienced on the job. When I was pretty young an executive came up to me and said “You should let go of what you are expert at to move onto the next challenge and at the same time help those behind you.”

Maybe I should step to the wheel and try to set a good course. Well, maybe tomorrow, I’m still not feeling that good.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.

  1. I wouldn’t, that’s not and never has been its purpose.
