The Daily writing prompt asks me to “Interview someone – a friend, another blogger, your mother, the mailman – and write a post based on their responses.
This was an interesting and tough assignment for the first thing on a Friday morning. First problem is I usually respond to the writing prompt when everyone else is usually still asleep. Those that might not be like a few of my friends are already hard at work. It’s many hours till the mailwoman comes with my letters and bills.
It’s interesting they suggested my mother. I would love to do that one and she would always take a call from me 24/7. She passed several years back, even though sometimes it still feels very recent.
My better half is still asleep so I’m a little stuck.
Actually the thought of interviewing someone is kind of strange. Until this thought. What questions would I ask people? So I just wrote down a few I might ask some people if I had the chance this morning.
I would like to ask all the people I worked with at a group of local community newspapers in the 70s, 80s and 90s what they thought was special about those times. What local journalism brought to the community that is missing today. What relationships do they have to this day with those co-workers. How did it change there lives. What made it so unique that so many that worked there felt such a special connection to both the work and each other.
Hey, maybe I got the idea for another book. I better get too it soon because most of us are pretty old now.

Great questions! I appreciate your questions as much as I would appreciate the answers. I found this to be a challenging prompt. What I ended up posting was based very loosely on the experience of this book “interviewing” me. But that’s a stretch.
