What is good about having a pet? – I bet this question from the Daily Writing prompt gets a ton of replies.
Almost EVERYTHING is the answer – Pets are comforting and fun. Loving and playful wakes with you or wakes you each day. It’s that bond that develops very quickly and just builds and builds. I could use so many positive terms to describe the joy they bring to people and ramble on for paragraphs, if you haven’t experienced it, you need to before you leave this earth. It’s a very rewarding experience.
And then one day way too soon that love parishes. And the heartbreak of losing a family member cuts at our hearts.
I was watching College Gameday yesterday and viewed this tribute to Ben Herbstreit the dog of Kirk who became a celebrity on the road with him. Kirk, one of the most accomplished announcers couldn’t speak before they did a tribute to his partner, choked up with so much emotion. That is what it’s like to lose a pet.
We’re familiar with that pain having had pets all our lives. But we are also filled with the joy, love, and fun they provided for many decades.
Life tip – Any person who can abuse a pet, will abuse a person. Beware
