I always keep an extra leg to stand on around the house, in the car and often on the camera. We have some light rain this morning and I see clouds in the forecast. That coupled with some other duties today will limit my shooting a bit.

Photography Journey Day 15 – 11/15/24

Tripods, something I’ve rarely employed but I’m going to change that dynamic. The first reason is I’m just not as stable as I used to be. And the equipment I use isn’t particularly light. In addition, I’m shooting at greater focal lengths now and the less vibration, the better the image.

I have 4 of them. The two above, and two full size ones. One from my parents that I think was made in the 1950s. It’s a Davidson Star D Aluminum tripod. I still use it and but mainly the indoor unit. One of the legs at full length won’t stay tight.

The main unit is a MeFoto Roadtrip aluminum in Red. Match my car color almost. It’s a nice steady unit that holds a DSLR and a heavy lens with ease. It’s fairly lightweight and adjustable. And it was in my price range. (always the great determiner)

Here it is evening already and I haven’t shot anything today so far. We were helping the family with young ones and old ones. They both need watching. It was fun as always, but kind of draining.

Maybe this is the night I step outside for some evening shooting. I’ll have to see if I have any energy left after watching the basketball game.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • I wonder if Bezos has Musk envy.
  • There is a lot to be said. Trouble is it’s become a game of one upmanship.
  • Dealing with some tough issues. It’s kind of impeding my creativity and spirit.
  • When someone wants to put my family or my health at risk, they should realize that it is a two way street.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
