Weak-Strong Start

I got lost in space yesterday morning so I laid back down and took a two hour nap and started over. Got the right frame of mind and started production.

Several logistical tasks were accomplished. Banking, haircut appointment made, doctors appointment made, car maintenance completed, boxes returned to storage, playpen assembled, read security precautions, clean out email, vacuum and clean up the office a bit.

Todays start was much better where I was up hours before sunrise working and exercising. I feel like I got a days work done before noon.

The season of flu, rsv and covid is messing with our holiday plans. We will adapt but it will most likely result in split delayed celebrations. Can’t say it doesn’t hurt though, but it’s life.

So a great song came on to cheer me up a bit (Free Bird from Lynyrd Skynyrd) the live version of course from 76. This might be my favorite band of all time but I never went to see them after the plane crash killed and injured so many.

And while some original members were always part of the band after it reformed with it just wasn’t the band I loved. I’m glad they were able to bring the music to later generations but again, I only listen to the pre crash days.

I’m sitting here trying not to be bummed out about the change in plans and thinking of how to make the best of it. We will take the sick ones some food and see them from outside. It will probably make us sad on the way back home but it will make them feel much better.

Speaking of food, we had better decide on our meal this evening. I think we are treating ourselves to some carry out. Maybe some seafood or Chinese. Then again I haven’t had any Mexican in a bit. The picture of the crabcakes has me thinking that route but I don’t like getting seafood to go.

I think I’ll take my better half out this week for a seafood dinner. Food by Fagers Island Ocean City MD. One of our favorite spots but I think we will do something a bit more local. Photo by Mike Hartley

I’ll probably post through the evening a bit but wishing you all a wonderful, peaceful, healthy and comforting Christmas and Hanukkah Eve.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • Instituting a new family tradition for the grandchildren. Showing them the importance of sharing, especially during this season by letting them pick a charity or needy person/group.
  • When apart from family at this time, the heart strains.
  • The University of Maryland Men’s basketball team is getting no respect. Teams will pay for this.
  • Faith, as unique as each of us.
  • I bite my lip, as I think of Christmas past with those no longer here to celebrate with.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
