Do you have any collections? – An interesting question from the daily writing prompt.
If you asked my better half if I had any collections, she would probably say yes – junk.
Over time I’ve had a few collections, most of them are gone now. Like most young boys of my generation, we used to collect baseball cards. I had a nice one. But those are gone now except for a few that I’ll pass down one day.
I still have a collection of old cameras from the family and my history with photography. I have my collection of art, mostly photography.
Oh, I still have several record albums from my youth. And a few beer steins and goblets.
I have a collection of 4 shells I picked up at the beach over 3 decades ago. It was an especially difficult time personally and professionally. I remember finding them and holding onto them thinking this is us. From the day we came home from the shore they have been on my desk in front of me since then. They give me strength because they represent my family.
I almost forgot about this one, I haven’t touched it in decades. I have a stamp collection from my youth that I built on from what my mom and dad started. That I still have and one day will organize.
My most important collection is my memories and the personal things my children have given me over the years.
