The daily prompt asks – What’s the funniest misunderstanding you’ve ever been a part of?
The older I get the more misunderstandings happen mainly because of people’s hearing issues. Both my wife and my best friend have hearing loss, and this creates some regular miscommunication and some very funny times.
I don’t remember this phase in my early years but it’s one I use often now when I get an answer that is totally unrelated to the question or statement I made. And that is “What do you think I said”
Mine hearing is still pretty good but not perfect especially when people are talking to me from other rooms.
In order not to embarrass any family members or friends here I’ll use one blunder that I made recently. My family was over and they were in the living room. My son yelled out, dad, do you get dryness in your beard? I said yes but I thought he said do you get dryness in your ear. He goes what do you use and I said a wet Q-Tip.
Well, I hear silence and then this laughter from the other room breaks out and I asked what was going on and then he clarified the question.
Now ladies, no more wheelies on the boardwalk, do you understand me?
