The sand and the waves don’t change. But other things on the shore do. Here is a shot of two that are no more. One of my favorite pizza spots was Tony’s and the boardwalk Tram. Both are history.

So many changes in Ocean City each year catch my eye. Every inch of real estate seems to be developed. Restaurants come and go. I wonder how much business was lost due to the tram shutting down. Regardless, I still like going to this town.

Things didn’t seem as crowded the weeks we were there this year. I’m wondering if it was an off year. Given the cost increases of just getting there and the rates for stays here are high I wouldn’t be surprised if occupancy rates were down a bit.

The jellyfish invasion in August didn’t help. That is the most popular month and if you can’t get in the water, it’s not a destination for the family. I know my son went down again a few weeks after our family vacation in July, and they said they couldn’t even get in the water, they were so thick.

After all these years, traditions and favorite spots have changed. But we always still seem to have a great time there. Lots of people complain about it. There are spots and times and weekends to avoid. But there is something for everyone throughout the year.

It’s been some time in taking a bike ride up and down the boardwalk with my better half. I think I’ll have to put that on the list to complete before the end of the year.
