I’m late getting this out and I hope an important person to me sees this post.
I mentioned earlier something special on Monday happened to me. But the story starts a good while back when I did a post about my father’s burial flag from Arlington and I needed to get a case for it. Out of the blue a nice one shows up anonymously, which I immediately filled and put in a special spot where I have maybe 30 or so 8x10s of Arlington National Cemetery.
Until Monday I didn’t know the generous person behind this wonderful gesture. I had already questioned all those close to me when it came a year or more ago and I was stumped.
When I went outside to put the 5-gallon gas can in the car to go fill again for mowing and I noticed a note and a pack of photo printing paper beside it.
A quick summary of that note. Bob was here from far out of the state of Maryland and wanted to meet me. He was in town for a 50th HS reunion. He said he followed my blog and was the one who sent me the flag case. WOW. I was blown away. Fortunately, he left his phone number, and I called him back and he was able to come by for a visit.
We had a wonderful talk for at least an hour, probably 2, and found we shared a lot in common. I’ll be calling him back again and thanking him for the visit and wonderful gifts that I cherish.
This action Bob has taken reminded me in his kindness that I should also pass it on. I’m going to sit down this week and spread some love to some of my favorite charities. Then I’m going to go buy some toys for a friend’s children’s hospital charity.
And then I might find a stranger who needs something.
