Anticipation

The more I anticipate, the more I get excited about things. As long as I’m not being negative in my anticipation.

I’ve been watching young children recently and their joy and excitement that comes with anticipation of something good happening has brought me back to that feeling. So why not carry it forward.

Today I’m anticipating feedback on a recent project from a few people. I’m anticipating rains which is great because I need some computer time to catch up with all the shooting I’ve done.

The printer just started and I’m anticipating the first 8×10 print of the day coming out of it. In a half hour I’m anticipating a hot shower.

The anticipation of picking up a paint brush for the first time in a few weeks is exciting. And I’m hearing the workroom tools calling me in anticipation of creating some sawdust.

I hope your day is filled with anticipation.

Sailing Solo

Going it alone, is a lot of fun so far. I worked for someone else all my life, and now it’s my time. I love seeing my efforts of lack thereof on full display each day.

I’ll be pounding away, like the waves on the shore. Little by little, on some days, some massive steps forward on others.

I’m up early today, but not expecting much of a sunrise. Hopefully I’ll be surprised. Photo by Mike Hartley

Anticipation

A few days ago I was anticipating a substantial snow. Now it just appears to be a few inches. That’s Mother Nature, she swings on a whim. So it’s best to always be prepared.

There is anticipation when I finally finish a carving. The first is the point to where I’m happy with it and that means the work part is complete. Then there is the anticipation of making it a gift to someone.

Even though I loved what I did professionally for decades, I woke with a mixed sense of anticipation each day because I wasn’t in control of it. Today in retirement, I wake with a sense of excitement and energy, I’m in control.

The anticipation of my better half waking, and that morning hug. Looking out at the snow together and maybe going out and clearing it together. The comfort of spending the day as we choose. I believe I’ll take her to lunch today.

The more I anticipate about future events the less happy I am, so I’m going to live in the here and now. That doesn’t mean I’m ignoring what is happening, I just can’t spend my day focused on some of the really negative things possible.

My largest anticipation for any sport is building the next few weeks and then we enter MARCH MADNESS.

Each day now I anticipate exceeding the previous days exercise effort. It doesn’t always work out but I do like the goal.

Random Thoughts of the Morning

  • Welcome to the Wild Wild West.
  • The older I get, the less I care about how neatly my beard is trimmed.
  • I like watching a piece of wood take shape.
  • I just can’t seem to get warm this morning.
  • There is a new painting to add to the wall in my office from my granddaughter.
