Advice

What advice would you give to your teenage self? – A reflection question from the daily writing prompt.

First, I would tell myself to never have picked up a cigarette. Good thing I came to my senses and dropped that habit long long ago.

Next, I would like to kick my ass up and down the street till I got it in my head that drinking is not a competitive sport.

I would encourage myself to have a lot more confidence in my abilities and to follow my dreams more. To not be afraid to talk from the heart.

To appreciate that time of teenage life fully. I did a pretty good job but there were things that could have been done better.

Oh yeah, to tone down a lot of the riskier things I did during those years.

Remember, when you come to a bridge. Floor it.

Advice for my yutes

What advice would you give to your teenage self? I think I answered a daily prompt question like this long ago but maybe this old man’s memory isn’t as sharp as it once was so I’ll answer today.

I’ll try to keep it short even though my teenage self/selves could have used a lot of advice. Or maybe we weren’t listening.

Try harder academically. Stop drinking like a fish, you’re becoming an alcoholic. You don’t know what love is yet. Don’t give up on your dreams, even though a career may take you another way at times. You only have one body, take better care of it. Have more confidence in yourself. Look for and find healthy ways to stay mentally healthy. Set your sights higher.
