Confident

Who is the most confident person you know? – I answered this 2 years ago in a post called TIE and not much has changed. My two best friends are the most confident people I know.

I’ve known some people that are very confident and shouldn’t be. I’ve been overconfident myself at times and I guard against it now.

I love seeing a child ride a bike for the first time on their own and seeing that confidence take over their face and body.

Driven

Who is the most confident person you know? – This is an easy one from the daily writing prompt.

One of my best friends is the most confident person I’ve ever known. A lot of it is his competitive spirit. He believes he can win in any situation. He does it by working smart, working hard and then harder than the other guy. He also knows he won’t win in every situation but that doesn’t deter him from thinking he will win from then on.

He strives for win/win situations but if that isn’t possible, he wins. He will also take a loss and try to turn that into a win in some fashion. Or if he feels he lost unfairly, boy I don’t want to be on the other side of that in business.

I guess I would equate him with the old Vince Lombardi mindset when it comes to business. He’s still very confident in his personal life but turns down the highly competitive nature.

I’ve learned a few things about confident people, having been around a few personally and professionally. Some people mistake it for arrogance, when it’s just confidence. Some see confident people as too aggressive or taking too many risks. Confident people can be seen as know it all’s.

A lot of confident people know things because they have done many things. Those learned experiences have built confidence. Smart confident people constantly learn, adapt and communicate well.

Confident and competent people inspire confidence in those around them. And build confident mindsets in their families, friends and work teams.

Even confident people can get overly confident. Confidence without humility is a dangerous combination. Confidence unbridled turns into Cockiness and that’s ugly.

I’m not a confident person by nature. I’ve had the pleasure and good grace to be around many confident people. That has helped me both personally and professionally.

My better half isn’t a confident person by nature either but the two of us together are pretty good.

I always felt confident on one of these. Even though the margin for error is very thin. About the width of the tire on the road.

Tie

Who is the most confident person you know? – the Daily Writing prompt asked this morning.

Well, this one is a toss-up. I’d say it’s between my two best friends. It just seems to come naturally from them. This internal unwavering belief that they will win or rise or succeed. The drive they employee when things go the wrong way to turn it around.

I marvel at it sometimes and it has led to them being successful so I can’t argue with it.

To me confidence is a double edged sword. I guess I’m more middle of the road. I have confidence in my abilities but never thinking I have the solution to everything, it keeps me learning and humble.
