No thanks

The daily prompt asks – How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

The answer used to be rarely, but I’ve grown much better at it. I’m finding a much better balance now and I’m happier for it. Saying no is an important part of life. Following your goals is an important part of life.

But remember when you say no, do it politely. No thank you.

Saying no

How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals? – Damn good question from the daily writing prompt.

The short answer is not too often. I mostly adjust my schedule to fit the important people around me. So, saying no isn’t a high percentage at all. If I can shuffle something, I do. Been doing it all my life so it doesn’t seem abnormal anymore.

But as I get older, I find myself saying no a bit more often and I imagine it will continue to uptick because time is getting shorter for my goals. And I’m setting them as a higher priority all the time.

Don’t get me wrong. Those things I didn’t say no too were really my goals that I just didn’t know about till they were brought to my attention by family or good friends. Because their happiness and success are my goals also.

Work was always getting in the way, and you can’t say no to the job that pays the bills. But those days are hopefully behind me. Now I have some time for my goals.

And my goal today is to pick up the camera and do some shooting, after I finish chores.

No

How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals? – Ask the Daily Writing prompt.

Overall judging by my history, I’d say not often. I’m not good at saying “no.” I rarely if ever say no to family and friends. But being a little older now I find myself getting better at it. I’ve surprised myself at some things I’ve said no to in the past year or so.

My goals have moved way up the list of priorities and I always consider them first now. Life is finite and tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. So some might hear no from me once in a while in the future also.
