Influences

The daily writing prompt asks – Who are the biggest influences in your life?

My better half is probably the biggest influencer in my life. She helped me overcome my alcohol problem which was substantial coming out of my late teens and early 20s.

We have made a family together and she helped me be the best parent I could be.

Right there at the top with her is my mother. A woman who set me on the right path in life with many insights, wisdom, ethics, compassion and love for all people.

I have a couple of best friends who have also influenced my life. Sometimes in the way my better half doesn’t approve of, but we have had some wonderful times and adventures. We have gotten together almost weekly for decades.

We are all professionals, both at work and play. We challenge each other, we support each other, we love each other like brothers.

I’ve been blessed to have many others also who have supported me both personally and professionally.

Guess I’m one lucky guy.

The usual suspects

Who are the biggest influences in your life? – All these questions from the daily writing prompt about my boring life.

My better half who has put up with me, encouraged and loved me, for almost 5 decades. My mother who had to be both parents for a good while. Next would be my children who changed my life and gave me a whole new perspective on happiness.

I have a couple good friends who have influenced me for decades with their wise advice and wisdom.

Ah yes, how could I forget that little voice in the back of my head. The one that says go ahead, it looks fun.

Influence

Today’s daily writing prompt asks – Who are the biggest influencers in your life? Yeah, I can take a crack at that.

My Dad, taught me about sacrifice for country and loss when he passed at a young age. My Mom taught me sacrifice, hard work, respect, manners, love, and honesty.

My better half has influenced me in so many areas. She saved me from being an alcoholic. She has stayed by my side when I’ve been sick. She created a beautiful family and shared it with me. She loves me and I her. She gives me confidence. She gives me laughs. She helps me with decisions. We enjoy life together.

I’m sure our wives might not agree about us being a positive influence on each other but my best friends are fairly big influencers. I’ll just say we have a damn good time when we are together. But they also have a serious side and we are there for each other always.

Professional influences are many. I think I’ll do a post on them someday because they are all special people with talents, insights, knowledge, and a special dedication that has inspired me, challenged me, saved me, and let me be me.
