What’s a place you visited that felt like home? – Asks the daily prompt.
I can’t say I’ve found a place I’ve visited that felt like home. I guess the closest thing I can think of is Bethany Beach Delaware. It doesn’t feel like home, but it could be a place I could call home.
You see we have been in this home for so long I’m not sure anyplace could ever feel like this again in the time I have left on earth. There is comfort that comes with time. Knowing the area like the back of my hand. The views, smells and sounds I’ve become accustomed to.
The hundreds of photos I have on the walls in my basement won’t be here. The little over an acre of property that I know every inch and bump of would be unfamiliar to me in another spot.
The sounds and sights I see of my children and grandchildren in this home could never be replicated someplace else. The firepit that sits in the middle of what used to be the family pool can’t be replicated.
It would take forever to learn all the spots on the wood floor that creak a bit when stepped on in another home.
In another location I wouldn’t be a bit over 2 hours from both the mountains and the ocean.
And I certainly couldn’t live without the Snowball Stand just up the street.
There is no place like home.
