Got to thinking about the two photos I had ready. The title spiders and man popped to mind. Next thought was about how ambitious both were in building each day. Now on the surface the spider seems to have all the advantages. It’s 400+ million years old and refined vs humans 200K years of chaos. The spider has a 2-1 advantage in limbs with 8 legs vs our 2 arms and 2 legs. And even though we humans are several magnitudes larger in size, would like to think we have superior minds, they have found a way to become one with nature where humans are still trying to find that balance. Unfortunately we are losing and all need to take more responsibility in what we use and dispose of.
The spider above I shot the other day floating in my pool. A monster of a spider in my experience with them. I believe it’s called a thin legged wolf spider. It was easily 6″ in wingspan. It looked like a freak of nature. I threw him back to the woods. Yes alive.
The shot below is from my Mom’s collection I believe. A construction shot. The old rigging, wood pool and steel, reminded me of mans spider web. I think this was from 1950 from other images I found around it. In NY (maybe Rochester, Syracuse)
Again my apologies for my absence of a few days. Trying to do more with less time each day. But I’m excited about having some more time to shoot and scan old images and write in the next 3-4 days.

You are brave to take that photo! I’d be afraid that thing would eat my face!
Funny how people assume humans are at the top of the food chain. No other animals kill each other for sport like humans do. Who is smartest now?
Great work and narrative Mike!
