Exactly one mile down the road is a rail line that is used fairly often. I’m sure there are some dangerous cars in the middle of some of those trains. It’s funny as you grow older your thoughts change. The only things I thought of when I saw trains when I was younger were marveling at the sheer size and sounds from the engines. The graffiti on the cars. The cargo and how many cars were on that train.
Now I think about safety or terrorism and our rail system. Or how many cars contain oil or other toxic or explosive or both are going by us each day. I might have to go do some recording and research on that just for my own curiosity.
I need to get back to that kid mentality. Life is a lot more fun that way. Think I’ll walk the train path and try some photos along that beautiful stretch of land in northern Howard County. I also need to get to some areas down by where I grew up in the southern part of the county.
I hear Savage has grown. Been a long time in visiting that neck of the county. Also Rocky Gorge.
Actually that is an excuse to get some exercise which I need. I’ve been getting lazy again and its time for a change. Another incentive is one of my brothers slimming down to the point where % of body fat might be swinging my direction. Of course we still have one friend who I think owns that title of most out of shape.
So out I will go early this weekend each day for some exercise and shooting. Sounds like a good plan.
And speaking of behaving and thinking like a kid. It was a great day tooling around with the top down on the car. Yeah a little hot but what the hell. I love summer and sunshine. Drove out to the Lisbon/Woodbine area and some of those back roads.
Closer to home I did see a personal statement about the coming development along Bethany and 99. I didn’t do it myself but I do agree with the sentiment.
Think I’ll make this my reward after some train track walks. A snack at the Inn.
Saw this sitting at the corner of 32 and 99 this afternoon. Hoping all survived.
Had some sweet corn last night. Another reason I love summer.
