What are your biggest challenges? So ask the first Bloganuary writing prompt. But, first a Happy New Year to all. May it be one of health and love.

I’m facing two challenges right out of the gate. At midnight my last day at the job of the last 26 years was completed. I’m looking for a new career. My first challenge is coming off an overnight shift for the last decade. In other words, I have horrible sleep patterns that I need to correct and start getting some healthy rest.

I have more than enough career ideas to keep me busy unless I want to return to work and that thought at least in the short term is no. So the next challenge is to keep healthy. I’ve been working hard at that but I also know I’m not in total control. The next visit with the cancer doctor is days away to go over test results. I have never wished so hard that they are good and that I have time to spend with my family. I hoped so hard to get to this point surviving a few cancers.

Life is full of challenges no matter what the date is. Like a friend tells me it’s how we react to them that matters. When I wake up tomorrow there will be new ones at the doorstep. So bring’em on.

I’ve also learned that helping others with their challenges makes your own seem easier.
