Take me

Take me to the sands of the Atlantic shore.

Well, maybe I’ll take myself. Running the sand between my fingers and toes, working my body into the sand through the blanket is my therapy. Soaking up rays and feeling that warm ocean breeze, sounds of the waves hitting the shore, feeling that cool rush of saltwater over my feet.

Cruising Ocean Highway with the top down and pulling into Dumser’s for some ice cream. Or maybe one of the many great establishments providing a cold beverage and good meal. A visit to the marina to watch today’s catch come in from the fleet of charters or if I’m lucky enough to catch the White Marlin tournament which is one of the biggest on the Atlantic.

And of course, wandering the town with the camera from the inlet up to the lighthouse in Fenwick at the state line. A walk on the boardwalk for some people watching and maybe a game or two in the arcade taking me back to my youth. A walk out to the rocks at the point of the inlet and take in the view turning completely around a few times.

Back up the road to midtown and a stop at Fager’s Island on the bay to catch sunset and listen to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture perfectly timed to end when the sun disappears. Have a quick bite, listen to the band, maybe move my body to a tune and then point the magic carpet home.

Sounds like a good plan.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • There is a lot of wisdom in listening.
  • I think Phil Collins was an underrated drummer.
  • Just in case you haven’t noticed, the takeover is almost complete, wake up and act now before it’s too late.
  • I should have been a musician.
  • Sounds like someone is afraid of opening pandoras box.

With a lifetime and a half in the Newspaper industry I'm preparing for my retirement career as an Artist, Writer, Photographer and Video content provider. I'm a proud father of two wonderful children and I'm still married to the first girl I fell in love with and probably only one that would have me.
