Saw a praying mantis on my car cover this morning. And then I saw the fly underneath. Adds a little perspective on how big that mantis was. One of the biggest I’ve seen this summer. I got a stick and put him on a more suitable bush.

Boy, was I slack this day. No exercise, no chores completed, a halfhearted attempt at catching a yellow finch in the backyard and a few other random shots. But I still have this evening to salvage the day.

Random Thoughts of the Day

• I still have too many drafts of posts started and not completed.
• I’m from the generation of where memories are only with the people who were there.
• I read that the Mediterranean has a blue crab problem. Send them to Maryland. Either that or send a few Marylanders over with a big stock of Old Bay and teach them how to catch, cook and eat them. Then there won’t be a problem.
• Time for some pain. Gas in both cars are low.
• Listening to ZZ Top this morning in honor of some deceased band members.
