Luxury

I’m not much into the luxurious lifestyle. The first requisite is money and that has never been in vast supply here. I do have an eye for beauty and sometimes those observations are luxurious. In the car world Cadillac is a luxury brand.

I drove an old Caddy once. It was my moms, who owned an old used one. She didn’t feel safe in a small car. This one below is not it.

In some ways I have a lot of luxuries. A full stomach, a roof over our heads, money to pay the bills most of our lives. And the greatest ones, time and health.

I guess I just got a luxury item. I got a firepit a few weeks ago. Not something I need. Not something that serves a purpose other than comfort on a cool evening. I worked hard all my life. I’ll make some allowances.

Luxury has its place in life. But greed doesn’t. And we have a lot of greed at work acquiring the very few things they don’t own already.

Random Thoughts of the Day

  • Did you ever feel like you were splurging to get a haircut? I remember that feeling. I’m glad I don’t have it anymore.
  • I see Jeff Bezos thinks millions of people will be living in space in the next couple decades. May he be resident # 00,000,001
  • Time goes by so fast I feel like I’m filling my weekly pill dispenser daily.
  • It’s getting cold and my attitude is starting to go down with the temps.

Time

What’s the one luxury you can’t live without? – The Daily Writing prompt asks.

Never really had much luxury in my life in the monetary items. Never had a luxury car or home/homes. Nor jewelry or clothes, or boat and jet. No exclusive vacations or any other traditional luxury items. And that is just fine because I feel very rich.

The luxury of spending time with family and friends and the love and contentment that comes from it. Time to spend on my passions and hobbies. Those are the luxuries I can’t live without.

A comfortable bed and pillow is a distant second.

Don’t need a luxury brand. My little Miata is just fine. Photo by Mike Hartley
